The system in detail
How the project was born, who was entrusted with the construction, how much it can earn investors and all the other details of the plant
Introduction
The Comiso Photovoltaic Park is a strategic initiative by GridShare, adding to the investment vehicle Ecofund, a plant of approximately 1 MW (992 kWp) currently in "ready to build" phase. With an estimated annual production of 1,884,800 kWh, the project will be able to cover the energy needs of approximately 700 families, preventing the release into the atmosphere of over 13,000 tons of CO2 over its 30-year lifespan. The plant will benefit from optimized design to maximize output in one of Europe's highest irradiation areas.
History
The Comiso project stems from Regran's design development and the joint desire to enhance proprietary assets, transforming unused land into a center of excellence for energy production. Unlike other initiatives, Comiso focuses on the solidity of land ownership, eliminating leasing costs and ensuring superior financial stability. It's an investment in thereal economy: clear logic, tangible assets, and measurable environmental impact, all supported by cutting-edge solar tracking technology.
Technical specifications
- Nominal power: 992 kWp
- Estimated annual production: 1,884,800 kWh
- Specific yield: 1,900 kWh/kWp (thanks to excellent local exposure)
- Land type: flat (owned)
- Technology: single-axis trackers (to follow the sun from east to west)
- Environmental Impact: approximately 13,150 tons of CO2 saved over 30 years
Project Features
Management is entrusted to GridShare, which will coordinate development and future commissioning.
Each investor will directly benefit from the revenue generated by the sale of the energy produced. The decision to use single-axis trackers on flat terrain allows for a broader and more consistent production curve compared to fixed systems, optimizing revenue during morning and afternoon hours.
The Technical Insight
Initially, the site layout was envisioned with a standard configuration. However, an in-depth study of the wind conditions and topography of the Comiso site allowed for the selection of a solution with single-axis trackers with high efficiency. This technological choice allowed for pushing the specific yield to the exceptional value of 1,900 kWh/kWp, transforming a "simple" photovoltaic field into a high-efficiency energy machine, without increasing the occupied area.
