Before we start, do you know what the energy transition is?

For some years now, we have been hearing more and more talk about energy transition in relation to climate change. Why is this transition so important? And what type of energy does it start from, exactly? How can we speed up the process and what can we citizens do? We explain everything to you in this blog post.

Let's do a review, to understand briefly and in a very simple way what is meant by energy transition.

This is a process of change that concerns the sources from which the energy we use every day is produced: from traditional sources such as fossil fuels (to name the most common, gas and oil) that produce emissions harmful to the planet, to renewable sources such as the sun and wind, which have a very low impact on the planet.

The main objective of the energy transition is to bring about a systematic change in our society, making different types of changes, to significantly reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the environment that are causing global warming. Secondo The data According to NASA, in 2022 we reached record high temperatures and the forecasts for 2023 are far from optimistic.

The key points of the energy transition are different.

Some may confuse the energy transition with decarbonization (i.e. the process of reducing CO2 emissions, in the case of the energy sector we refer to the transition from high-emission energy sources to cleaner sources), but the latter is part of the transition. When we talk about energy transition, in fact, we refer to different actions:

-Investing in renewable energy: renewables are one of the key elements of the transition because they allow us to produce energy with zero or very low impact.

-Increase electrification: the use of electricity produced from renewable sources will allow us to be increasingly sustainable and to abandon fossil fuels, highly polluting such as coal.

-Investing in storage technologies: the switch to renewable sources also means decentralization of energy. It is therefore necessary to improve and develop new storage processes so that the energy supply is continuous.

-Installation of Smart Grids: smart electricity grids allow, among other things, a more efficient distribution of energy, avoiding losses and therefore production overload.

-Continue with the search: new technologies and new solutions to continue to innovate the energy sector, because we have discovered so much but we must do more and more.

-Promote citizen awareness: it is important to ensure that citizens, institutions and businesses have access to the right information on the subject and above all, then, do their part.

What can you do in concrete terms to help the planet.

Activists like Greta Thunberg, and events like Fridays for Future have awakened the social and environmental consciousness of many. Even brands (like us with our blog and with our shared solar project) are doing their part in trying to share more and more information on sustainability issues and thus to help concretely in combating climate change.

So what can be done to help the planet? Prefer made in Italy, or rather, kilometer zero for every consumer product: from food to clothing. Do separate waste collection and promote the circular economy. And opting for the electrification of your consumption is also an important step in this process. Switching to an electric car, choosing a state-of-the-art boiler and an electric heating system for the home, opting for induction heating instead of a gas one are small-big steps you can do to avoid producing many greenhouse gas emissions.

Many people, however, are understandably frightened by the total electrification of their consumption, fearing a disproportionate increase in their bill. The solution, even in this case, lies in investing in renewables.

How to become the protagonist of the transition with GridShare.

With GridShare, the shared solar system, you too can do your part in this process that will revolutionize our planet!

By investing in one of our solar parks, you can produce clean energy and become an active part in the energy transition process. With a single share, you will decarbonize and electrify the consumption of your home or business, you will have less impact on the environment and at the same time on your balance sheet at the end of the month.
By investing in renewables, using our solar panels, you will in fact have a huge savings in your bill and by joining our community you can simulate your consumption, understand how many kWh you need, and therefore, how much to invest. Today is the right time to start.
