Introduction
The Augusta II Agrivoltaic Park is a strategic initiative by GridShare. It is a 999 kWp facility currently in the "ready to build" phase. With an estimated annual production of 1,898,100 kWh, the project will be able to meet the energy needs of 678 households, preventing the emission of 14,236 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere over its useful life. The facility will benefit from an agrivoltaic design optimized to maximize energy yield and integrate agricultural seed cultivation.
History
The Augusta II project stems from Regran's design development and the desire to enhance the agricultural land, transforming the area into a center of excellence for energy and agricultural production. Unlike traditional parks, Augusta II focuses on the dual use of the land, ensuring the continued productivity of the soil. It is an investment in the real economy with clear logic, tangible assets, and a positive environmental impact, equivalent to planting 21,569 trees.
Technical specifications
- Nominal power: 999 kWp
- Estimated annual production: 1,898,100 kWh
- Specific yield: 1,900 kWh/kWp
- Plant type: agrivoltaics with seed cultivation
- Environmental impact: 14,236 tons of CO2 saved in total (475 tons avoided per year), equivalent to 21,569 trees planted
- Average return: 9.50%
- Technology: single-axis trackers
Project features
Management is handled by GridShare, which will coordinate development and future commissioning. Each investor will benefit directly from the cash flows generated by the sale of the energy produced. The decision to use single-axis trackers for an agrivoltaic system allows for a broader and more consistent production curve, while simultaneously adjusting shading to promote the proper growth of the seeds underneath.
Technical insight
Initially, the site layout was planned with a standard ground-mounted configuration. However, the agronomic and orographic study of the Augusta land made it possible to opt for an agrivoltaic solution with high-efficiency trackers. This technological choice fully safeguards the agricultural use of the land while simultaneously pushing specific productivity up to 1,900 kWh/kWp, transforming the field into a high-yield ecosystem for both energy and agriculture.
