Intro
The Donnalucata Agrivoltaic Park is a 3.3 MW plant under construction, promoted by GridShare in October 2025. The plant has an estimated annual production of more than 6,200,000 kWh, sufficient to cover the energy needs of about 2,000 families. Furthermore, having ranked among the winning projects of the 2024 agrivoltaic call, the plant enjoys a 40% non-repayable contribution (used to reduce the project's financial leverage) as well as a fixed incentive rate of 78.62 €/MWh for the first 20 years of operation. All this guarantees stable returns over time that amount to between 7.5% and the estimated annual gross 11.5%.
Story
The project represents the biggest and most challenging initiative promoted by GridShare: a plant that far exceeds the financial needs and size of previous projects. However, this did not prevent us from obtaining a sold-out of the fundraiser in a few weeks, proof of an economic model appreciated by the market. Donnalucata's project, like other agrivoltaics, in fact, emphasizes an investment that goes beyond the purely numerical-financial components, but is realized in what is defined as a real economy, with stable returns, with easily understandable and tangible logics, thanks to the perfect integration between energy production and agricultural cultivation.
Technical characteristics
- Nominal power: 3.3 MW
- Estimated annual production: about 6,200 MWh
- Total surface area: 37,000 square meters in right of surface
- Number of panels: 4,680
- Typology: bifacial solar panels with monoaxial trackers
- Energy sales: fixed incentive rate for 20 years equal to 78.62€/MWh
Design characteristics
The investment vehicle in which investors were able to subscribe to shares in the plant is the innovative startup Ecofund Srl, controlled by GridShare in partnership with Regran, a company that develops and builds photovoltaic plants that acts as general contractor for the Donnalucata park.
Every investor has property rights linked to the proceeds of the individual park deriving from the sale of energy, which are substantiated in expected annual gross returns of between 7.5% in the first few years and 11.5% after the repayment of bank financing.
Donnalucata is a project that makes it possible to combine energy and agriculture, able to maximize the economic yield of agricultural land thanks to the optimization of crops favored by the design of the above agrivoltaic structures.
The secret anecdote
The Donnalucata plant had to be slightly smaller in terms of nominal power, and precisely equal to 3.2 MW. During the calculation phase at the time of the executive design and thanks to the choice of more technologically advanced materials than those originally assumed, it was possible to optimize the power of the panels compared to inverters without burdening the total costs, but indeed generating a project with greater power and therefore slightly higher returns than expected.
